The Hobey Baker Award, is awarded each year to an individual deemed to be the best player in Men’s Division I Ice Hockey. The top 77 college hockey players area awaiting your 2012 VOTE.

Hobey Baker Award Criteria:

1. Candidates must exhibit strength of character both on and off the ice.

2. Candidates must contribute to the integrity of the team and display outstanding skills in all phases of the game.

3. Consideration should be given to scholastic achievement and sportmanship.

4. Candidates must comply with all NCAA rules: be full time students in an accredited NCAA college or university; and complete 50% or more of the season.

Incredible Roller Hockey Rink

WOW! This place is awesome!! The Barney family has been farming for years in Queen Creek, Arizona. They have created a sports complex to carry on the Barney name.

The Barney Family Sports Complex‘s grand opening was in May 2009, they offer Soccer, Basketball, Football, Dodgeball, Volleyball and Roller Hockey. After my team (Polar Bear Squirt A) ice hockey practice this morning at Polar Ice, Chandler, a few of us switched from skates to roller blades and spent 2 hours playing roller hockey. It was so much fun!

USA Hockey, with nearly 600,000 youth and adult hockey members, has no direct control over the nation’s 2,000 rinks. Following the “E:60″ investigation, USA Hockey told “E:60″ that the organization had sent letters to the governors of the other 47 states urging them to adopt similar legislation.

Max Stephenson NYU Hockey Student

I read an article about a hockey player looking for funds to attend college. We did some research and found that Max Stephenson was the real deal and found a Time Life article about him. For those of you who wish to donate and help a hockey brother or another student trying to afford college, here is the LINK. I made a donation toward Max’s College Tuition and he recently sent me a note of thanks:

Hi Patrick,
I never knew that playing hockey could have so many rewards. Playing is great; but when I get to “meet” people like you because of hockey, nothing could be better. Patrick, keep it up – you have no idea the wonders it will bring you.

Please accept my very sincere apology for not thanking you much earlier for your very generous contribution to my college education. The out pour of donations, notes and media attention, not to mention attending classes, homework and a new job has kept me very busy. But that’s no excuse.

You gave me a chance and I will never forget it. Because of people like you, I am indeed a genuine, bona fide NYU student. I can’t tell you how happy I am. Please be assured that I will live up to your belief in me and will continually return your generosity to others.

A bit of a status report: I received nearly $11,000 – enough to pay for my first semester. Donations came from as far away as Korea, Brazil, Australia and a dozen other countries. Great grandmothers, college professors, those who had no difficulty paying for college and some who did responded to my plea. All sympathized with the struggle to finance a college education and like the fact that the issue was brought to light in this way.

Not only did I receive money, but I got a great internship! It’s with www.GradeFund.com , a company that encourages students to strive for good grades. Like you, they found me because my story in the press and asked me to be a spokesperson. So far, I’ve appeared on NBC, Fox and am slated to be interviewed by ABC next week. If you can afford a few more dollars and know other students in need, check it out.

I am now into my second semester, studying hard (all “A”s last semester), playing ice hockey for NYU and making a lot of new friends. Life is good.

Again, thank you. You gave me a chance. I’ll always be grateful. And if you get to New York Patrick, I’d love to get on the ice with you. Shoot me an email when the time comes.

Hockey is important because everything and every moment is important in life.

It’s important to be a good student.
It’s important to treat your parents with respect and love.
It’s important to be a loyal friend.
It’s important to laugh.
It’s important to have good manners.

Coyotes Hockey Game Table

I have a big collection of McFarlane Toys Hockey figures, that I like to play with. I have all of the NHL players, some of my favorites are: Roenick, Crosby, Ovechkin and Luongo. Whenever McFarlane Toys puts out new players, I always get them. I have a Roenick player on the Flyers and the Kings, I just hope they make a San Jose Sharks Roenick for my collection.

As a surprise, my mom had my old table painted by an artist to resemble the Phoenix Coyotes Ice. It turned out AWESOME!

McFarlane Toys has a big selection of hockey figures, and they even have a store near the Jobing.com Arena. When I am not playing hockey, I am playing with my hockey players at my arena … in my room!

I was so pumped up on the ride to Peoria. I watched my In the Crease DVD, while driving to the rink and back. It is my all time favorite DVD. I have memorized it. The movie is a true story about the California Wave Bantam AAA travel hockey team’s journey to the National Championship. Some awesome NHL players are in the movie, Jeremy Roenick, Joe Thorton, Scott Gomez, Mike Comrie, Scott Niedermayer, Craig Conroy, Brendan Shanahan and Derian Hatcher. They talk about how hockey is more than just a sport, it’s a way of life! It is an awesome movie, here is the link: www.inthecreasemovie.com
