Jr. Sharks WIN the Wild West Showdown Banner

Congrats to the San Jose Sharks for taking home the Wild West Showdown Tourney Banner, in the PeeWee Division!! The Arizona Runners came in second, followed by the DYHA Phoenix Firebirds and 4th place went to the La Jolla Jaguars who gave a battle each game they played.

The Sharks had a full hockey schedule playing in the tourney, as well as scrimmaging the DYHA Firebirds 99 team. They put in a full weekend and still found the steam to WIN the banner!

Sharks #7 Scott and I played together for Team Northwest two years ago, in Calgary, Canada at the Stampede Challenge. Small hockey world!

Great Thanksgiving Tourney!! Fun weekend of hockey! Very thankful for my hockey friends everywhere!!

I had such a great time in Canada. The Stampede Challenge AAA Hockey Tournament, was the BEST tournament ever. Ten days in Canada, was not long enough. I wish it was a month! My 2000 team had only four practice together, and some of the Canadian teams had been together for 3 years, so it was really competitive hockey. They were checking and the refs did not make any calls! It was physical!!

I had some really cool Coaches. Coach Johnson will be the head Coach for the USHL’s Fargo Force and Coach Hengen plays hockey for the Deggendorf Fire GerObL in Germany. He is also #27, like me!

I made a lot of new friends. We still keep in touch on xBox Live and email each other. My first hockey trip to Canada was awesome and something I will never forget. Thank you Team Northwest and Todd Collins!

Practice Totally ROCKED!

There are 11 players from Arizona representing Team Northwest. We have two hours of ice time each day. The practices are great. My Coach Steve Johnson, is the Head Coach for the Fargo Force (USHL), and he played for the UND Fighting Sioux (WCHA).

We had team pictures, with the Canadian Rockies behind us.

The weather has changed today, it was cold and raining. The weather canceled our hike up Johnston Canyon for today, but we have two more days here to try. This afternoon, it got colder, darker and started snowing a bit. YEAH!

I am here … in Canmore Canada

My first time through Customs was so cool, I got a stamp in my passport book with Calgary on it. The agent was talking to me about playing hockey and said “good luck in the tournament.”

It took about an hour to get from Calgary to Canmore. The mountains still have snow on the peaks. WOW! It is amazing. We went this afternoon to the Canmore Recreational Center to get our uniforms and I was able to get on the ice for a while and skate. The TNW jacket is really awesome!

I am off now to bed, long day. Very Exciting. My first team practice is tomorrow afternoon. I am looking forward to meeting my Coaches and the rest of my teammates. GO TNW!

Behind the Mask in Chandler, AZ

The word is Josh is back at Behind the Mask! That is great news!! Although; Steven and Jordan helped size me for new roller blades and a Warrior Hockey Stick yesterday. Behind the Mask is the place to go, for all your hockey & roller hockey stuff!! These guys take the time to make sure you get what you need and that you are sized perfectly. They have an awesome selection of sticks and I found the one I wanted to take to Canada!!
