From the Drop, to the Stop, Do Not Quit!

I watch my In the Crease DVD, almost every day!

My favorite part is when the Coach Mike Lewis is motivating the California Wave players in the locker room. “From the drop, to the stop, do not quit! Get it in your hearts, get it in your minds, from this day forward guys we roll!”

I played Sunday’s game at Polar Ice Gilbert, against the Tucson Stampede Squirt B team with this quote stuck in my head. It worked out really well for me. I had a total of 4 points with 2 goals and 2 assists. One of our centers was sick and I played every other shift; I was really in the game, I set up plays, made passes and had a handful of shots on goal. I was motivated!!

My Coach told us after that game that it was the first time in the Sonoran Youth Hockey League that a Mite Team had beaten a Squirt Team. Pretty Impressive for a bunch of Mite A Players. The final score was 7-4.

Some Highlights from the game:

Hockey Weekend

I am looking forward to playing some good hockey this weekend.  The Jr. Coyotes play our first Squirt B games this weekend.  We have practiced a lot and have worked hard together, but now we get to play competitive hockey.  I am very excited because one of the games is at the new Gilbert Rink.  Saturday my game against Peoria starts at 8:20 a.m., so I have to wake up early to be in Scottsdale on time for the game at the Ice Den.  Sunday’s game is at 10:10 a.m. at Polar Ice in Gilbert, which is a quick ride from my house.

I have worked hard this week, and have one last private lesson today to prepare for my weekend!  If you get a chance, come and see me play.

Holly Harrington & Power Skaters

Holly Harrington teaches Power Skating Classes around Arizona. She is really tough! I learn so much from her and really like going to her classes. Although, they are really hard work. Holly is sometimes tough on us on the ice, but she wants us to be better skaters.

On Monday night, I went to the Gilbert rink; I did not know anyone there, but made some new friends. At the end of class, she let us have a game.

My friend and I wore our “I love power skating with Holly Harrington” stickers to class on Tuesday night. She laughed and made the class look at our hearts. She moved both of us to the front of the line and used us as coaching examples. Tuesday, I learned a lot of new stuff. I always leave her class sweating!

Power Skating is so important, I am glad that I have a great instructor to work with and it is fun to do it with hockey friends.

Coyotes Opener with Coach Dominic

I was so lucky that I got to go to the Coyotes first game of the season. Everyone got a Olli Jokinen bobble-head. It is so cool, it even looks just like him. I had a great time. My friend Jacob was there and he scored a goal at intermission. Coach Dominic was there too and we were hanging out and talking during the game. He said I could help hm on the ice sometimes. I really want to do that.

What a great game, the Coyotes WON! Olli got the first penalty of the game and also the first goal! He was amazing in his first game as a Coyote. I saw so many of my friends at the game, it was so much fun! HHHOOOWWWLLL!

Behind the Mask ~ New Skates

Here I am, sporting my new Behind the Mask hat and showing off my new skates. I had my old pair for almost two years. I was bummed when they told me that they could not be sharpened anymore and I should consider a new pair. I loved those skates!!

Off to Behind the Mask I went! As always Nick and Josh were really helpful. I tried on a few pairs, but I was sold on the Bauer Vapor XXII. Some of the other skates have wider cuts at the ankle and it was hard to walk in them, the Bauer skates had more support and better fit at the ankle.

The real test was the ice and they were awesome! If you purchase your skates at a BTM store, they will give you a deal on sharpening them. It is always fun going in and seeing Josh, they are so helpful at the Chandler store.

My first year travel team picture is still posted at the cash register. For all your hockey needs visit Behind the Mask!  They ROCK!
