This long hockey weekend was AWESOME!! The Phoenix Polar Bears did a great job bringing home the banner in the Labor Day Tournament!
We were in second place going into the playoffs. It was pretty cool that we played against my old teammates from the Jr. Coyotes. I had the first goal of the game; it was a rebound goal, off of a nice shot from my teammate Mark.
I’m not sure I agree with the tripping penalty I got in that game! Sorry Robby!!
That win gave us a spot in the Championship game on Monday vs the Jr. Coyotes 99 team. We were down 2-0, and came back to win the game 4-2!
It was an incredible victory. I could hear the Polar Bear fans counting down the clock and we cleared the bench and headed for our goalie! SWEET! We got trophies and skated around the rink with the banner. What a great way to start the season!!
Another season is under way. The Phoenix Polar Bears have started practices and already had a few scrimmages, but this weekend the games start.
I am very excited to have our first hockey tournament this Labor Day weekend. The Squirt A teams will be playing at the Arcadia Ice Rink in Phoenix. Tournament Schedule:
This video was the last game of the Coyotes 2008-09 season. I never miss the last home game, it has to hold me over until the next season begins! The Coyotes won this one in a shoot out against the Ducks.
Tiki (Viktor Tikhonov) took the shot, tripped and was celebrating while down. His goal WON the game for the Coyotes, he was amazing. It was such a great Game.
I will never forget coming home from school today and logging onto RoenickLife.com and watching Jeremy Roenick speak about his retirement from the NHL after 20 seasons. He said it’s not a sad day … but to me it is. I will not get to watch him play this season. I can’t imagine that, I have watched him play since I was three.
I thank JR for being a friend and an awesome role model. I will continue to wear his number and dream big. I want to be like Jeremy Roenick when I grow up!
I had such a great time in Canada. The Stampede Challenge AAA Hockey Tournament, was the BEST tournament ever. Ten days in Canada, was not long enough. I wish it was a month! My 2000 team had only four practice together, and some of the Canadian teams had been together for 3 years, so it was really competitive hockey. They were checking and the refs did not make any calls! It was physical!!
I made a lot of new friends. We still keep in touch on xBox Live and email each other. My first hockey trip to Canada was awesome and something I will never forget. Thank you Team Northwest and Todd Collins!
This was a big moment for me! I met the NHL Deputy Commissioner at the Alltel Ice Den on Monday night. After interviewing with the news stations (Fanster.com has the full interview), he stopped to thank the Coyotes FANS and to pose for a picture with me. My mom has already printed this picture and framed it in my room.
One day, I will meet with the Commissioner again … when I am in the NHL! Murph #27
