Operation Christmas Child

Gifts for Operation Christmas Child

I look at all that I have and I know how lucky I am!

My 5th grade teacher told my class about Operation Christmas Child.  I grabbed my wallet and went shopping for books, puzzles, pencils, candy, cars and a stuffed animal, perfect for some little boys that I wish were my brothers!

It feels good to give some fun to those less fortunate than me.  Join me in spreading Christmas cheer this holiday season.  Hockey Players be thankful for all that you have!

The schedule is out for the Thanksgiving Shootout Tournament, November 26-28, 2010.  First up, the Squirt A Phoenix Polar Bears are taking on the La Jolla Jaguars, out of San Diego, CA.  The complete tournament schedule can be found here.  It is so cool that you can sign up and get text updates for your favorite team playing in the tournament.

There is a lot to do this time of year in Phoenix.  Including catching a Phoenix Coyotes game.  Yotes are taking on Anaheim Ducks at Jobing.com Arena on Saturday, November 27th at 6pm.  Tickets can be purchased through the tournament if needed here.  The Hockey Pin Trading Event will be at the Peoria Polar Ice Rink on Saturday Morning from 11am-1pm.

I am really looking forward to playing hockey and eating some turkey (on and off the ice)!

Weekend of Walking for Good Causes

This past Saturday, I participated in the Making Strides Breast Cancer 5K Walk in Tempe, AZ.  I designed a pink tie-died t-shirt to wear to the event.  It will be my 5th year walking for the cause.  I had a cousin diagnosed this year with Breast Cancer, so walking it this time meant a lot to me.

Then on Sunday, my Phoenix Polar Bears team wore green bandanas and walked a 5K at the Phoenix Zoo, to support the Lymphoma Foundation.  One of our teammates grandmother died of this disease.  Our team raised $340 to support this important cause.

Together, we can make a difference!

Murph Goes Pink for DYHA Game – Ends in 3-3 Tie

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The Phoenix Polar Bear Squirt A team, donned PINK tape on their sticks yesterday to show their support for those facing Breast Cancer. I played my game yesterday for my cousin Posie, who was diagnosed this month and underwent surgery this past week. My first goal was dedicated to her!

Please visit my American Cancer Society Making Strides page and support me in the fight against Breast Cancer. Together, as a team … we can make a difference. Thank you!
