Jr. Sharks WIN the Wild West Showdown Banner

Congrats to the San Jose Sharks for taking home the Wild West Showdown Tourney Banner, in the PeeWee Division!!  The Arizona Runners came in second, followed by the DYHA Phoenix Firebirds and 4th place went to the La Jolla Jaguars who gave a battle each game they played.

Murphy vs Scott

The Sharks had a full hockey schedule playing in the tourney, as well as scrimmaging the DYHA Firebirds 99 team.  They put in a full weekend and still found the steam to WIN the banner!

Sharks #7 Scott and I played together for Team Northwest two years ago, in Calgary, Canada at the Stampede Challenge.  Small hockey world!

Great Thanksgiving Tourney!!  Fun weekend of hockey!  Very thankful for my hockey friends everywhere!!

Wild West Showdown Hockey Tourney

I am thankful every year, that I have the opportunity to play the best sport … HOCKEY!  There is nothing better, than eating turkey and preparing for a big hockey tourney weekend!

The 4th Annual Wild West Showdown Invitational Hockey Tournament is being hosted by the Arizona Amateur Alliance.  The Tourney is open to teams in the PeeWee and Bantam division, the games are being played out of Oceanside Ice, Tempe and Arcadia Ice, Phoenix.

The Jr. Sharks and the La Jolla Jaguars are coming in from California, and the Arizona Runners and DYHA Phoenix Firebirds will compete in the Pee Wee Division.  Should be a competitive weekend of hockey!

Heading to Detroit for the Warrior AAA Tournament

Pavel Datsyuk Bobblehead

So pumped for Friday!  The DYHA Firebirds play our first game vs the Michigan Nationals at 9:15am.  Game score sheet here.  This is my first trip to the Warrior AAA Tournament!

Excited for the tournament, but I am bummed that I will miss opening night for the Phoenix Coyotes.  While in Detroit, I’m going to catch the Red Wings vs Vancouver Canucks game.  It’s Pavel Datsyuk bobblehead night at the Joe!!

Travel hockey has taken me to many great hockey cities!

Another Travel Hockey Season Comes to and End!

My travel season as a Squirt Player has come to an end.  I am now officially a Pee Wee Player!

The Squirt A Phoenix Polar Bears

I had an amazing season and made some life-time friendships.  On April 4th, the Arizona Hockey Union held their annual End-of-Season Awards Ceremony.  Being named the MVP for my team was an honor!  I was so excited to see a few of my friends that played travel for the first time this season, were also awarded for their hard work and dedication to hockey!

Murph as a Mite

Shocking was the announcement that next season there will be NO more Phoenix Polar Bears and NO more Arizona Heat!  They will unite under the black and purple jersey and become one, known as the Arizona Hockey Union!

Thank you Phoenix Polar Bears for great memories, going all the back to my first travel season as a Mite!  It was a jersey I respected every time I put it on.

Dear Goldwater Institute, I Just Had the Best Night of my Life!

Dear Goldwater Institute Staff:

Phoenix Coyotes Game

Last night was the best night of my life! Why you ask? Because, I attended another Phoenix Coyotes game. I love hockey, hockey is my passion, heck, hockey is my life. I cannot imagine my life without MY local hockey team. The Phoenix Coyotes sponsored my career 7 years ago in Kids First Hockey, they provided me with full gear, so that I along with hundreds of other kids could try the sport. I was hooked because of the Phoenix Coyotes generosity. The Phoenix Coyotes are extremely generous, and are always giving back to the community that supports them!

I’m only 10 and I know if I beg my parents enough, I can usually get them to buy me that new hockey stick I want so badly. SO … I am begging you here; because I want he Phoenix Coyotes to say in Arizona, way more than any new, awesome hockey stick.

The Boys with Derek Morris

PLEASE find a way … any way to allow the sale of the Phoenix Coyotes to go through! The Phoenix Coyotes are part of our hockey family, part of our community and we should reachout and help them. PLEASE, please, Please!

Please, don’t let this season be the last time I have the “best night of my life” … please find a way to HELP the Phoenix Coyotes stay in Glendale! Please:) with a smiley face attached!

Sincerely, Patrick W. Murphy (Murph #27)

Squirt A Polar Bears Scrimmage

In preparing for next years Pee Wee season, the Polar Bears Pee Wee B Coach agreed to let us scrimmage his team. We are small but still battled, the chance to play up was great. We still have some things to work on, but it looks like the Squirt A Coaches have done a great job in preparing us for next year.

I personally look forward to being tall enough to climb over the boards like the Pee Wee players do to get on the bench!!
