I will be spending the Labor Day weekend in Scottsdale at the
Alltel Ice Den playing HOCKEY! I am really pumped up for this season with the Phoenix Polar Bears.
First up, the Polar Bears take on the Canyon State Cougars on Saturday (9/4) at 3:30 pm, the complete schedule is here.
We got our new PB gear last night and it is pretty sweet!
Come out to the Ice Den this weekend and support youth hockey in the Valley, while getting a hockey fix before the NHL season starts! Go Polar Bears!!
WOW! This place is awesome!! The Barney family has been farming for years in Queen Creek, Arizona. They have created a sports complex to carry on the Barney name.
The Barney Family Sports Complex‘s grand opening was in May 2009, they offer Soccer, Basketball, Football, Dodgeball, Volleyball and Roller Hockey. After my team (Polar Bear Squirt A) ice hockey practice this morning at Polar Ice, Chandler, a few of us switched from skates to roller blades and spent 2 hours playing roller hockey. It was so much fun!
My Dad caught highlights with his iPhone. Check out the video on YouTube.
PS. Before you enter the rink … be sure to rub the watermelon out front … rumor has it brings good luck!

There are 11 players from Arizona representing Team Northwest. We have two hours of ice time each day. The practices are great. My Coach Steve Johnson, is the Head Coach for the Fargo Force (USHL), and he played for the UND Fighting Sioux (WCHA).
We had team pictures, with the Canadian Rockies behind us.
The weather has changed today, it was cold and raining. The weather canceled our hike up Johnston Canyon for today, but we have two more days here to try. This afternoon, it got colder, darker and started snowing a bit. YEAH!
Having a great time, wish you were here! Murph

The COYOTES are staying in Glendale, AZ! That is the best news ever!! Thank you Judge
Baum for that great decision. I am looking forward to celebrating with the Coyotes Fans. I do feel bad for the Canadian fans, that hoped to get a team in Hamilton. Having your own NHL team is the best feeling in the world. Hockey RULES and so do YOTES fans!!
