The Phoenix President’s Day Hockey Invitational is one of the best run hockey tournaments that I have ever played in, and it’s close to home! There are 134 teams participating and 38 of them are coming from Canada. Not only do we play hockey in Arizona, we have awesome weather this time of year. Three of the teams the DYHA Firebirds will face are from Canada, starting with the Langley Eagles, from BC on Friday. Then on Saturday morning we face the Springbank PW 2 Predators from Calgary and early Sunday morning we meet the Sunshine Coast Blues, also from BC. Sunday night we play the West Valley Wolves from CA.
I’m looking forward to a weekend packed full of competitive hockey! If you want to follow a teams progress in the tourney, click HERE to get text updates.

I had a full weekend of hockey. I played in four games in two days for the Polar Bears. We played teams from Anaheim, Vancouver BC and San Diego. Our last game today was against the Vancouver Winterhawks. We played the Winterhawks tough, through the second period.
My first time through Customs was so cool, I got a stamp in my passport book with Calgary on it. The agent was talking to me about playing hockey and said “good luck in the tournament.”
I was able to get on the ice for a while and skate. The TNW jacket is really awesome!
