Warrior Hockey Tournament in Detroit, MI

I had such a great time in Detroit!  The Warrior Hockey Tournament was a great experience and the Phoenix Firebirds got to play some top notch teams.  The Firebirds beat the Michigan Nationals 5-2, but lost to the Mississauga Reps 5-4 and Comcast 4-0, but we tied Victory Honda 1-1.  Not a bad showing for a team from Arizona, eh?

#13 Datsyuk

While we were in Detroit; my mom and I went to Hockey Town Cafe for lunch.  Afterward,  we grabbed some Detroit Tigers play-off game tickets.  I met the goalie for the 2000 Little Caesars’ team outside Comerica Park.  By the 7th inning it was time to head for Joe Louis Arena to see a Detroit Red Wings game.  We had great seats and I was able to see Datsyuk up close.  He is one of my favorite players.  Pavel has some sick stick-handling hands and is an amazing Center!

The biggest highlight for me, was seeing some of my former teammates from the Florida Jr. Panthers.  They were playing in the Elite 99 division at the tournament, they now play as the Florida Alliance.

Skate Sharpening

The guys at Novi Ice Rink did an amazing job sharpening my skates, great cut!  I had a great time in Detroit, and highly recommend the Warrior Hockey Tournament.

Phoenix Polar Bears Come up Short

IMG_0598I had a full weekend of hockey. I played in four games in two days for the Polar Bears. We played teams from Anaheim, Vancouver BC and San Diego. Our last game today was against the Vancouver Winterhawks. We played the Winterhawks tough, through the second period.

In the third we let up a couple of goals and eventually lost 5-2.  Tough weekend!!

Our next tournament will be in Scottsdale over Christmas Break.  Until then its practice! practice! practice! and a few Sonora League games and scrimmages to play in the next few weeks.

Yesterday, my teammates Logan, Trent and I  had lunch and watched a tournament hockey game at Jobing.com Arena.  Some of the teams were lucky to play on the Coyotes ice before they took on the Dallas Stars last night (and WON)!!

I am going to sleep in tomorrow, wish I was playing hockey!

I am here … in Canmore Canada

photoMy first time through Customs was so cool, I got a stamp in my passport book with Calgary on it.  The agent was talking to me about playing hockey and said “good luck in the tournament.”

It took about an hour to get from Calgary to Canmore.  The mountains still have snow on the peaks.  WOW!  It is amazing.  We went this afternoon to the Canmore Recreational Center to get our uniforms and photoI was able to get on the ice for a while and skate.  The TNW jacket is really awesome!

I am off now to bed, long day.  Very Exciting.  My first team practice is tomorrow afternoon.  I am looking forward to meeting my Coaches and the rest of my teammates.  GO TNW!

Off Season Training Starts Today!

Yesterday, I played my last hockey tournament as a Mite. We had two games, we won the first and lost the second to the Polar Bears. It was a good way to end the season, playing against my friends on the PB. We should have won that game … but, long shifts and tired legs … we lost by ONE!

Today officially started my off ice training, so I can be ready for the next season of Squirts. I am playing Flag Football and I know the Coach! We won both games and our team is looking great with only two practices under our belt.

I am looking forward to next weekend, my team is taking on my goalie’s flag football team!!  May the best hockey player WIN!!
