Off Season Training Starts Today!

Yesterday, I played my last hockey tournament as a Mite. We had two games, we won the first and lost the second to the Polar Bears. It was a good way to end the season, playing against my friends on the PB. We should have won that game … but, long shifts and tired legs … we lost by ONE!

Today officially started my off ice training, so I can be ready for the next season of Squirts. I am playing Flag Football and I know the Coach! We won both games and our team is looking great with only two practices under our belt.

I am looking forward to next weekend, my team is taking on my goalie’s flag football team!!  May the best hockey player WIN!!

Happy Valentine’s Day from San Diego

The Jr. Coyotes are off to a great start.  We are participating in the San Diego CA State Games Tournament this weekend.  Last night we took on the Jr. LA Kings and won the game 13-1.  I contributed a goal and two assists.photo1

To celebrate my sister took me to make a cupcake.  You can put any topping on it!  I had a few bites, it was good and way too BIG for me!  Hockey=Healthy!!

Next game is tonight at 5:45pm we take on the San Diego Saints.

Happy Valentine’s Day 2009 from San Diego, CA!!  Murph

Hockey all day … all the time!

We had a day off from the tournament, so I had my line mate over to play some hockey.  We took a quick jog aroundimg_1873 the block and then worked on our shots together.  Between the two of us, we netted 300 shots!  It was totally awesome.  My mom was nice enough to retrieve ALL of the pucks, so we could just keep shooting.  We had a small game of one on one and Bunting was goalie, he ROCKS!  Then it was off to play x Box 360 Live NHL.

Late in the afternoon we went up to the Gilbert Rink to catch a 18AA tournament game.  Some of my hockey friends were there and we hung out and watched the game.  Now we are off to the hockey pin trading event.  It was a total hockey day!

First Tournament Win vs Vosha Mustangs

The Squirt B Mustangs came out strong with the first goal of the game. But, once the picture-1Jr. Coyotes #48 scored two goals back to back on one shift in the first period … things quickly changed!  We had a total of three goals in the first period.  We dominated the game, and our goalie only had like 11 shots on him, and their goalie saved 34 of our 41 shots!

This was the first game I played being on the red line and it was awesome, I had a total of 3 points (2 goals/1 assist)!  Our line contributed a total of 4 goals in the game.

Jr. Coyotes win 7-2

On the way to the tournament!

I was so pumped up on the ride to Peoria.  I watched my In the Crease DVD, while driving to the rink and back.  It is my all time favorite DVD.  I have memorized it.  The movie is a true story about the California Wave Bantam AAA travel hockey team’s journey to the National Championship.  Some awesome NHL players are in the movie, Jeremy Roenick, Joe Thorton, Scott Gomez, Mike Comrie, Scott Niedermayer, Craig Conroy,  Brendan Shanahan and Derian Hatcher.  They talk about how hockey is more than just a sport, it’s a way of life!   It is an awesome movie, here is the link: www.inthecreasemovie.com
