Words of Wisdom from John Buccigross

Response from John Buccigross of ESPN.com regarding an email he got from a Squirt Hockey Coach.

Bucci,

I have to give some words of wisdom to our squirt hockey team and am not the goodest writer in the world. ;) Any ideas to pass on to the boys?

Hockey is important because everything and every moment is important in life.

It’s important to be a good student.
It’s important to treat your parents with respect and love.
It’s important to be a loyal friend.
It’s important to laugh.
It’s important to have good manners.
It’s important to wash your hands.
It’s important to floss.
It’s important to keep your concentration.
It’s important to eat well and get enough sleep.
It’s important to create the ideal playlist on your iPod.
It’s important to get the high score on Guitar Hero.
It’s important to raise money for charity.
It’s important to hold hands in parking lots.

It’s also important to pass the puck ahead to the open teammate, to try to win every face off, to crash the net, to bear down for loose pucks around the crease, to lead with your stick, to compete with smarts and heart, and encourage and push each other. It’s important not to hit people from behind, not to kick, and to keep your stick on the ice. Hockey is important because every second of life is important. Right now is important. Right now is the only thing that matters. Do it right and do it now.

We did it … the Jr. Coyotes are Regional Champs – Beat the Jr. Sharks Again 5-3

A lot of hard work and practice went into getting us to the Silver Stick Tournament in San Jose. We played like a team in this tournament and it paid off for us. We were undefeated and our goalie had two shutouts.  The teams we played were all out of California.  They were: Santa Clara Blackhawks, Tri-Valley Blue Devils and San Jose Jr. Sharks.

The Jr. Coyotes are the first Mite Team from Arizona to win the Regional Title. That is something to be proud of.  Our Team will be engraved on the Silver Stick.

I am so happy to be a part of this team. The Coaches are awesome and the players are like brothers. This was the best Thanksgiving I ever had!

Coyotes Hockey Game Table

I have a big collection of McFarlane Toys Hockey figures, that I like to play with. I have all of the NHL players, some of my favorites are: Roenick, Crosby, Ovechkin and Luongo.  Whenever McFarlane Toys puts out new players, I always get them.  I have a Roenick player on the Flyers and the Kings, I just hope they make a San Jose Sharks Roenick for my collection.

As a surprise, my mom had my old table painted by an artist to resemble the Phoenix Coyotes Ice. It turned out AWESOME!

McFarlane Toys has a big selection of hockey figures, and they even have a store near the Jobing.com Arena. When I am not playing hockey, I am playing with my hockey players at my arena … in my room!

JR for Halloween

My new San Jose Sharks jersey came in the mail last week; just in time for me to be Jeremy Roenick for Halloween! The jersey, my hockey gear and some hair gel and I was all set for a night of collecting candy.

I got a lot of compliments on my hair! There are a lot of Roenick fans in my neighborhood, and they gave me extra candy for my costume. It was fun being JR for a night!

I will be wearing my jersey again in November, when I attend a Shark’s game in San Jose.  I am looking forward to seeing Jeremy do his thing on the ice!
